The Creator Mail Stack
Most solo creators need three layers — not twelve SaaS tabs. Start lean; add tools only when a real bottleneck appears.
1. Newsletter / ESP (core)
This is where subscribers live, automations run, and issues go out. Common creator picks:
- Kit (ConvertKit) — creator-focused automations, tagging, digital product flows.
- Beehiiv — newsletter growth features, referrals, ad network options.
- Buttondown — minimal, writer-friendly, Markdown-forward.
- MailerLite — capable free/paid tiers with builders and automations.
- Mailchimp — broad marketing suite; often heavier than solo newsletter needs.

2. Capture (landing / forms)
Many ESPs include forms and landing pages. Add a dedicated form/landing tool later if you need multi-step funnels, agency-style embeds, or A/B tests beyond the ESP’s builder.
Later niche: form builders for agencies (Typeform-class tools, etc.) will get their own comparison cluster after the core newsletter pages rank.
3. Analytics (lightweight)
Use your ESP’s open/click reports first. Add privacy-respecting web analytics (or built-in newsletter analytics) when you need source attribution beyond UTM guesses.
Example stacks by stage
| Stage | Suggested core | Add only if needed |
|---|---|---|
| First 100–1,000 subs | One ESP with free or entry plan + built-in forms | Separate landing page tool |
| Growing free list | ESP strong on referrals/SEO/growth (e.g. Beehiiv-style) or Kit-style automations | Paid ads, recommendation networks |
| Product + newsletter | ESP with tagging, sequences, commerce integrations | Checkout/store tool already in your stack |
No fake “#1 overall” rankings. Fit depends on whether your job is writing issues, running automations, selling digital products, or maximizing growth loops.
